About Jabber

Jabber is an open instant messanging protocol based on XML (so it HAS to be good). We run a server here at UDel, and are slowly convincing some of our collaborators that this is the best way to communicate.

The protocol is supported by several client applications. We recomend using gaim due to its support for numerious protocols (AIM, Yahoo, etc.) but also for its Linux and Windows compatibility (plus it is OSS as well).
